WOW! I cannot believe the day is finally here that I am launching my very own podcast! I've dreamed of this day for quite some time now, and I have such big plans for this next chapter of my business.
Let's rewind a bit and take it all the way back to the beginning of Details and Swirls! Before I even get into the story of how Details and Swirls came about, I want you to get to know me a little better!
I am 26 years old and was born and raised in Rhode Island. I've always had such a love and passion for creativity even from a young age. I always loved to draw, craft, design, and basically be involved with anything and everything creative! I never knew exactly "what I wanted to be when I grew up", but always knew I had a passion for the small details in life. I know this sound SO cheesy, especially since my business is called Details and Swirls, but it is true!
Growing up I was (and still am) completely obsessed with fashion, home decor, and loved dressing out of the box and crafting different things to put up in my house. During my time through high school and college my love for fashion, home decor, and creativity only grew, but I became completely stuck on the direction I wanted to choose for my career. I knew I had all of these creative passions, but had absolutely no idea how to turn them into a career path.
Fast forward through college, I received my degree in accounting (probably the least creative major I could have chosen), went on to complete my MBA, pass my CPA exams, and begin working at a public accounting firm in Boston. As you can probably imagine, after beginning work I quickly realized accounting was not what I wanted to spend my life doing. It could not have been the furthest thing from what I envisioned for my career, and I was devastated. During this time working in Boston, I was engaged and working on all of the details for mine and Joey's wedding. I began teaching myself hand lettering and fell in love with the sign making process for my wedding!
After our wedding I decided I wanted to open up my own business so I could continue working in weddings and lettering! One thing led to another, and my rental wedding business grew into an online store, which grew into a social platform, and even more! I could not be happier doing what I get to do every day, and I am so excited to continue working towards my business dreams!
